About Me

Hello and Welcome!

I’m Lisa Barksdale - violinist, teacher, writer, blogger, reader, home cooking enthusiast, and most recent update: mother!

I live and work in Providence, Rhode Island, where I’m a Resident Musician and coordinator of the Daily Orchestra Program for Community MusicWorks. Coordinating a daily after-school orchestra program for elementary school aged children, teaching those children to play violin and viola, and performing string chamber music with my colleagues, keeps me pretty busy! I also love traveling back in time to the Baroque era and playing baroque repertoire on gut strings and chinrest-free with the Providence Baroque Orchestra.

Currently my biggest life challenge is balancing working motherhood. When I have moments, I try to squeeze in time to write. Writing is my way of processing the world around me, and while I’m an expert procrastinator, I always feel better after I’ve done it. To read my writing, you can check out the blog page or sign up for my newsletter.

For even more you can follow me on Instagram for occasional book reviews, cooking tidbits, adorable dog photos, interesting article links and podcasts, and random musings about current events.

Thank you for visiting! So glad you’re here.
